Learnings from Eugene Yao (ADHD Founder)
Last week, I chatted with Eugene (@ADHDFounder).
He’s one of the fastest growing Instagram creators: 1 million followers at 6.5 months.
He posted consistently, even with ADHD.
I went into it expecting hacks to go viral.
But what I learned was way deeper…
detox from distraction
Most of our call, Eugene focused on the importance of a detox.
Imagine this:
Every month, you get 1 million dollars deposited in your bank account.
What would you do?
After all the travel, donations, purchases…
What would you be left with?
This is where so many people who’ve “made it” get stuck…
They constantly distract themselves with the next thing,
Hoping it’ll be enough.
But it’s never enough.
You need something bigger: your purpose.
(It’s what Eugene helps ADHDers with - doing a detox, finding their purpose, and helping them get their energy back.)
your purpose keeps you consistent
Some weeks I feel like a failure - getting nothing done.
Other weeks? I get 1 month’s worth of work done in 1 day.
I noticed a difference:
The weeks I did nothing were weeks I felt:
Unclear about what I wanted
Overwhelmed with too many things I tried to do
Disconnected from my goals
Discouraged (lol got some hate comments…)
The weeks I did a lot (like launching a course in 2 weeks), I felt:
Clear on exactly what I wanted
Fulfilled with my work
Excited to help other people live more intentionally (my mission)
Confident in my own abilities
Understanding yourself - and your goals - is the key to getting unstuck.
