how to think about sales so you don't burn out
“I’ll launch next month, sales will be better when I have more time to prepare.”
I was often guilty of delaying - maybe out of fear of being judged?
At least that’s where I thought my perfectionism came from.
“I need a sales page, a perfect funnel, the best offer…”
At least that’s what I thought until I closed a deal for $2,000 yesterday -

It’s not about having the “perfect” offer
I spent the last few months feeling so stuck - refining my offers and email sequences over and over.
I thought I needed to have the perfect, most optimized funnel, needing the most convincing emails.
So that’s why I spent hours and hours on admin:
Researching and planning my content to speak to my ideal clients
Creating DM automations that were only used 3 times
Writing emails only 5 people would read
Typing up pages of my offer with the “perfect” wording
But what actually moved my business forward wasn’t any of those…
I didn’t even have a website or offer document 😅
Because in the middle of all this admin, I forgot the most important thing, the whole reason why I wanted to start my business…
It’s about your identity
I was always too scared to pitch my offer…I didn’t wanna sound salesy or scammy.
My worst fear is having someone pay me and then saying “this is low quality, you’re a scam.”
My clients feel the same way:

the case study referenced
Now, after making over $70,000 with my course, I realized…maybe it’s not actually about being called a scam.
Because I have a refund policy 😅 if someone doesn’t like my course, I refund them.
It’s about my identity…if someone doesn’t like my course, then I’m a failure and my course is worthless.
It’s this belief that if I ask for money, then I’m a slimey capitalist who doesn’t care about people.
This way of thinking wormed its way into my identity and everyday decisions -
So much so that I couldn’t share things I knew would change people’s lives (out of fear of being seen as scammy).
The same patterns would play out in my personal life:
I’d bend over backwards for people, giving them my time and energy freely
I’d be taken advantage of and feel burnt out
I’d be forced to stop helping anyone else - because I got burnt out
But when I made the sale yesterday, it was like texting a friend. Nothing salesy or scammy - just helping someone who needed it.
And it’s not just me - this is what life looks like when you change your identity.
Here’s an example from a client of mine.
What a confident creator looks like
A few months ago, my client wanted to charge $200 for a 6-8 week live coaching program 🤯
These coaching programs usually go for a few thousand dollars…$2,000 minimum.
But she was scared - she didn’t think anyone would be able to afford it:

A few weeks later, she messaged me:

Because imagine you charge $200 for coaching - 2 things can happen:
You get so many clients you’re overwhelmed and can’t deliver a quality coaching experience
You don’t get the clients that put in the work - and miss out on clients who think $200 is suspiciously low and don’t purchase
Whereas when you’re more confident in your skills and charge accordingly, this is what happens:
Your students put in effort and get results you can be proud of
You’re able to dedicate more time and energy to a smaller number of people - leading to a higher quality experience
Because you’re not burnt out, you have energy to make free content to help people who can’t afford 1:1 coaching
Now, my client’s students constantly tell her how much she’s changed their lives (and how much I’ve changed hers 🥺):

And this only happened once I felt confident enough to reach out to people and make an offer.
But how do you change your identity?
This is a part of what I help creators with:
Launching an offer for more stable income
Handholding to turn scattered ideas into clear and easy next steps
Mindset work to become more confident in sales without feeling scammy
