What a stranger in a coffee shop taught me about course sales
His words changed my life
Grr…grr…
Coffee beans weren’t the only thing grinding in that coffee shop.
My course enrollment deadline was a week away, and I had to grind to get those last sales in.
I was tired.
Tired of constantly chasing sales, making videos, sending emails…but what else was I supposed to do to promote my course?
So when this stranger interrupted me, I was annoyed at first…
“What does your hat say?” he asked me.
“‘I’m me, be you.’ I got this hat for free at an event.”
Then, instead of getting back to my busywork, I had a 2-hour conversation with him that changed my life.
“I don’t ever want to hear you say that again.”
He told me this after noticing I always started my sentences a certain way.
“I can’t…”
“It’s really hard to…”
“I don’t know how to…”
He interrupted me.
“Don’t ever say you can’t do something. If you don’t know, find a way to learn. Find a mentor. Search online. But don’t ever say you can’t.”
And that’s when I realized…
The only thing stopping me was myself.
Did I really need a fancy landing page?
Or can I just use a simple Notion page…
Which ended up getting me over $20k in course sales?
We all know someone…
Someone who says “I’ll do it tomorrow.”
Or “it’s not perfect yet, just wait a few more weeks.”
Then weeks - and even months - pass.
Nothing changes.
Meanwhile, I started my business in December last year.
Tried out agency work, newsletter business, low-ticket templates, masterclasses, and finally selling courses.
Made ~$50,000 already - completely part time while traveling.
(Feel free to check out my previous newsletter articles documenting the whole journey - I even have old YouTube videos I filmed while on the train to Niagara Falls.)
The difference between taking action and staying stagnant?
My systems…
Which I’ll teach in my course.
Want to learn from me?
I’m thinking of making a course sharing everything I know about course creation and marketing as a solo creator (with ADHD - so I really had to set up systems to take effective action).
But this is not for you if you:
Are looking for a quick money-making scheme and don’t actually care about student outcomes
Can’t dedicate at least 30 minutes a day (10 min for video tutorials, 20 min for homework)
Do not have a skill you can teach (but tbh, most people do! I’ll help you figure out what niche to pick)
However, if you’re interested, you probably:
Aren’t sure where to get started creating a course (I’ll teach you - as someone who’s been in edtech for 5+ years)
Want templates and detailed tutorials to get started - the easy way
Struggle with marketing and getting course sales
Have high standards for your products and want to do everything the right way
You don’t actually need a course idea to start.
Once you’re in, you get access to all the content for life. So if you might make a course in the future, I can help you.
Here’s what you’ll get:
30 days of hands-on work, where we build your course together (curriculum planning, scripting, filming, funnels, emails, social media marketing)
All my email templates
All my course prep templates
Guidance on promoting your course
Lifetime access to a community of like-minded entrepreneurs
For presales, I’m offering some limited time bonuses (worth $900)…
1-on-1 call to go over your current business strategy (usually I’d charge $400 for this)
Full audit of your current business/course marketing funnel (usually I’d charge $500)
I’m only accepting 10 students at presale right now…
And planning to charge $399+ for regular price.
But you can get it for just $199 today.
(Make a decision before Wednesday, October 16; that’s when I’m closing presales forever.)
Til next time,
Jennifer
P.S. Questions? Hit reply. My only guarantee with this course is that if you put in the work (30 min a day for 30 days), you’ll end up with a complete course preview lesson before the 30 days are over.
