“Power is the distance between thought and action.”

My friend was quoting a random YouTube video.

At the time, I felt like ADHD was my superpower:

My impulsivity and passion meant I took action fast.

But it also made me:

  • Lose track of time until 4pm so my whole day felt wasted

  • Keep getting excited by new ideas so I abandoned my plans

  • Feel overwhelmed by potential rejection (so I procrastinate)

If you’re like me, you’re also an overachiever who feels constantly guilty and disappointed -

Because it’s just so hard to stick to your goals.

So today I’m sharing how I overcame that with my life tracking systems.

Problem 1: I couldn’t sit down and plan

Why?

  1. It was boring

  2. I kept changing my mind (shiny object syndrome)

  3. I got overwhelmed

Solution 1: step 2, not step 100

I was thinking about funnels and lead magnets…

But that means nothing if I have no leads.

Simplify.

What’s the next step?

Focus on just that.

Problem 2: I couldn’t stick to a habit

I felt so unclear in my business.

Didn’t know what to work towards every day.

So I didn’t do anything…

Solution 2: Minimum Viable Action

What’s the 1 thing that’ll move the needle every day?

Ex) going for a run, posting 1 video, DM’ing 1 person

Turn it into the easiest possible action.

Ex) put on running clothes, filming 2 seconds (don’t need to post), writing 1 sentence draft DM

Problem 3: I kept procrastinating

I procrastinate when the next step is vague.

Or when I don’t see the point in doing something boring.

And before I knew it, months would pass…

Solution 3: hypothesis testing

  1. Write down 1 clear goal (should be easy - it’s what you want: money, sales, leads, etc.)

  2. Think of 1 thing you think will help you reach that goal (hypothesis)

  3. Set a timeline

  4. Let your natural curiosity take over

Ex) If I want to make $5k in the next 30 days, I’ll have to make 30 videos promoting my product. This means 1 video per day.

Then see if your prediction is right - but you’ll only find out if you stay consistent with the experiment.
