the real reason you feel stuck

a story about dogs and limiting beliefs

In partnership with

You’ve probably heard of it.

They shocked dogs in cages, preventing them from being able to run away.

After enough time,

The dogs didn’t even make an effort to escape anymore…

Even when they opened the cage doors.

They called it learned helplessness.

How does learned helplessness manifest in your life?

Lately, my video views haven’t been doing well.

(It’s not just me - I hear this from other creators too.)

Today, someone told me:

“You already know what works - your videos have gone viral. Just make those again.”

The first thing I thought?

“I tried multiple times already, it didn’t work.”

But I know if I was coaching someone else, I’d tell them to keep iterating and change different things until it did.

The cage door for me was probably open…

I just couldn’t walk through it.

So how did the researchers help the dogs learn to “escape” the cage again?

You can’t always do this alone

Because the dogs didn’t take any action to get out of the cage,

Researchers had to physically move the dogs themselves to show them they could escape.

That’s why I’ve spent $10k+ on coaches.

I know I can’t do this alone - there are things my coaches can see that I can’t.

And that’s exactly what happened when I shared my thoughts with a client…

My client’s most valuable takeaway

I just got off a call with my coaching client who just finished creating her course.

I asked her:

“What is the most valuable takeaway you had in the last few months?”

What she said was so wholesome 🥺

She told me “I saw another version of myself from your eyes.”

I could see her potential and believed in her so much, it gave her the motivation to keep going 🥺🥰

Even when facing challenges (worrying about course sales), she knew that she wouldn’t beat herself up about any failures.

Because I was telling her stuff like:

  • You’re learning so much

  • You’re setting great foundations - when you go viral, this course will help so many people

  • Your conversion rate is amazing - you just need to focus on getting more pageviews

So she could focus on what was going to move her forward, not hold her back.

It felt so fulfilling to be able to help others build their businesses - because I’ve always thought we should be spending money supporting each other, not big corporations.

I’m still thinking about what offers I wanna cook up for the rest of the year…

But in the meantime, I hope these emails lift your spirits a little 🫶 I know we might not know each other and probably haven’t talked…but I really do believe in you.

You can achieve their goals if you really believe in yourself.

(That’s what I learned last year after someone told me he was going to get 1m views. I didn’t believe him but he believed in himself, and ended up getting 5m views a few days after.)
