the easiest way to go viral (for beginners)
exposing my hook testing system
You know the feeling…
You spend hours on a video.
Post it.
Wait…
And get less than 400 views.
It’s discouraging.
Makes you not want to keep going.
But everyone tells you to “stay consistent.”
I’ve been there.
Here’s an example of 2 videos I posted.
Guess which one got more views?

Which video do you think got more views? |
Hook testing: why?
Those 2 videos are the exact same.
The only difference was the text on screen in the first 2 seconds.
I thought the POV text would perform better.
Almost posted that one - and that one only.
But I tested another hook…
And got almost 40x the views.

This method helped because:
It helped me figure out which messaging resonated (I used “learn in 6 weeks as a beginner” in other videos and they also went viral)
It made me want to keep posting and stay consistent - bc I was curious about the experiment results
How to start hook testing
Make your video as normal
Make a copy of your video
Change the text on screen in the first 2-4 seconds
Post both videos at the same time (usually I post on TikTok bc more strangers see my post, also I care abt my TikTok account less lol)
Wait a few days to see what happens
Repost the winning variant to other platforms (Instagram and YouTube for me)
I noticed usually the video with higher retention (people watching it for longer) = more views.

my most recent test. I rly thought “subscription” would win…
The reason this is such a hack isn't because of the virality.
It's because of the consistency.
My ADHD brain needs novelty, curiosity, and excitement.
When I hook test like this, I'm guaranteed to post consistently...
Because I'm so curious about the results.
Would you try something like this?
If you end up trying this hook testing method, let me know how it works for you!! I love nerding out over experiment/data stuff 🤩 will be cheering you on too!
How was today's email? |
