How I got unstuck in my business

do this if you're feeling like you can't make progress

In partnership with

I saw a post the other day.

“Just got an email Stripe sent me $9k.”

It’s hard not to compare…

And then I get trapped in that cycle of trying too many different things,

Just because they worked for someone else.

So I created a system to get unstuck, and now I have a clear direction for my business again.

Clearly state the problem

“When ___ happens, I feel ___”

Example:

When I haven’t made progress (sales) in my business in line with my revenue goals,

I feel overwhelmed, guilty, and like I’m a failure.

These negative feelings make me scared and I get avoidant,

So I don’t work on my business which contributes to the ack of progress.

5 whys analysis to get to the root cause

Ask why 5 times.

Example:

Why do I get avoidant?

Because I don’t want to get reminded of my failures.

I get overwhelmed and am not sure where to start.

Why don’t I know where to start?

Because I can’t make a decision on what to do…

I keep changing my mind as I see other people’s business successes.

Why do I keep changing my mind?

I am scared of failure.

If I try something and don’t get enough sales, I’d pivot and try something else,

And then never give things the time to succeed.

Or I’d make a mistake like not spending my time properly.

Why do I not give things time?

I move fast and get bored of stuff.

I don’t accurately estimate how long it’ll take to see results.

Why don’t I get intentional about my time estimations?

Because I didn’t see it as useful…but now I do.

I want to treat it like an experiment with a specific (longer) timeframe.

Make a plan for the next 7 or 30 days

7 days if you need to make decisions and test things quickly.

30 days if you’re exploring and not sure what to do next.

My plan looks like setting weekly goals,

Then turning those into daily habits.

It’s simple, but not easy

The daily habit in the plan you create for yourself can be simple.

But it won’t be easy to stick with the habit…

But that’s what this habits cheatsheet from the life tracking course is for.

Til next week,
