Did I hit $10k revenue with my course launch?

Exposing my numbers

Enrollments for my life tracking course just closed.

My goal was at least $10k with this launch.

I tested a lot of new things:

  • Email funnel (lowkey a disaster, will share why)

  • Lead magnets + email nurturing

  • DM / story reply automations

  • New website (not a Notion page)

Today I’m gonna expose all my mistakes + key numbers from the launch.

Mistakes I made 😩 I CRINGE SO HARD

1. Bad emails

I was swamped w moving countries so someone else drafted my emails.

I lowkey think they used AI cuz it was SO BAD OMG. Was NOT my voice at all.

I rewrote all the emails bc they had mistakes (wrong dates).

But still…the AI emails got sent out (I hired someone to do the back-end admin work cuz my ADHD brain cannot lol).

Got multiple DMs about the AI-sounding emails which…is so bad because think of how much effort it’d take for someone to:

  1. Read the email

  2. Open up Instagram

  3. Find my username

  4. Send me a message

  5. That’s so much effort…

How bad were the AI emails?

“Your fellow chaos goblin” - that bad.

Plus some random swear words (idk why).

Rip to my reputation and brand.

I was so mad but also I am in therapy so it wasn’t that bad haha I could manage my emotions.

But still omg 💀 I literally get psychic damage every time I think abt it.

Although to be fair it was my bad for checking all the emails last min so more prone to mistakes esp when working w other ppl.

Oh also some of the emails were scheduled out the wrong time (different timezones pain) 💀 so they were scheduled to be sent after enrollments closed.

I think I have trust issues w delegating/hiring ppl now.

2. No content strategy

Reel views and story views plummeted.

In previous cohorts I had some videos go viral which got enough traffic for my course.

But this time, I didn’t get enough people even visiting my website.

3. Disgusting checkout page

The platform I used (GoHighLevel - GHL) did not have customizable checkout pages.

IT WAS SO UGLY OMG.

A part of me is like “maybe I should’ve gotten Thrivecart” but GHL has the DM automation funnels, which I used to follow up with ppl and address objections.

4. Emails had duplicates

I was using GHL and beehiiv and some people were somehow on both lists.

So they got 2 copies of the same email 😩 

I should’ve made sure to exclude them to prevent the spam.

Numbers from 1 week of course sales

Funnel

53% website to checkout page clickthrough rate

10.5% payment plan conversion rate (website view to payment plan purchase)

2.5% one-time payment conversion rate (website view to one-time purchase)

So I changed things halfway through the sales week and made payment plan the default checkout page.

Sales

~41 students enrolled (compared to ~96 my first cohort)

2 upsells to a second mini course ($200 total; but ppl took payment plans)

Revenue

Biggest revenue day was price increase deadline (~$2.1k USD)

$6k USD revenue

$11k USD revenue if you include payment plans for the next 2 months

Next steps

Optimize checkout

  • Redirect from GHL website → Stripe (better looking checkout page) → back to thank you page after purchase

  • Accept Apple Pay, Klarna, AfterPay

Improve marketing

  • Problem-focused and social proof content, rather than just vibes

  • Strategically plan stories more instead of posting at bad times last-min

Fix emails

  • Consolidate in 1 platform

  • Have clearer funnel rather than just writing vibes and random stories

There’s probably more I have to do but I fell into that classic ADHD entrepreneur trap of shiny object syndrome/overcommitting to too many different fun projects.
