chase alignment, not money (or views)
some learnings from nonviolent communication
If you’re feeling stuck or uncertain right now, you’re not alone.
Here’s what I’ve been hearing (from myself and other creators I know):
Engagement + views are down
No direction for what to do next
Overwhelmed and feeling behind for 2026 already
Comparing to everyone else sharing their revenue wins for the year
Here’s a new perspective that might help you (especially for ADHD creators with rejection sensitivity)…

Over the next year, Roku predicts that 100% of the streaming audience will see ads. For growth marketers in 2026, CTV will remain an important “safe space” as AI creates widespread disruption in the search and social channels. Plus, easier access to self-serve CTV ad buying tools and targeting options will lead to a surge in locally-targeted streaming campaigns.
Read our guide to find out why growth marketers should make sure CTV is part of their 2026 media mix.
When views are lower than you expect
So I started reading this book called Nonviolent Communication - and while it’s mainly about relationships, I found that it applies to my content business too.
For example, it talks about 4 ways you can react when you receive a negative message:
Blame yourself
Blame others
Understand your own feelings and needs
Understand others’ feelings and needs
Here’s what it looks like in my head when applied to content.
My post got so little views, this is humiliating
I’m so ashamed, I want to avoid posting now
Maybe my content just isn’t good, I need to be like those other creators with the fancy editing…
But that’s so hard and overwhelming to do, I don’t know where to start
I’m not good enough at this, I should quit
You can see here I reacted with #1: blaming myself.
Or sometimes, I’ll blame the algorithm and think I’m shadowbanned (#2: blame others).
But what if I tried #3 or #4?
Here’s how my thought process goes in that case:
My posts get an average of 2-3k views, which is lower when compared to when I was going viral at millions of views (neutral observation)
When I see this, I feel disappointed because I am needing more appreciation and recognition for my efforts
I need to feel like my time and energy are valued, especially when I’m trying to help people
I wonder what I can do in my videos to help other people feel more seen or related to, so they can feel more connected with me in my video?
After doing this activity, I had a shocking realization…
I didn’t actually care about the views
It wasn’t the high number of views that I needed.
It was knowing that people appreciate my efforts.
That people found value in what I had to share.
And views was just one way to measure that.
For example, I made a post recently that I really liked. It got 3k views.
Usually, I would be disappointed seeing that.
But after making the post, someone texted me:

added this screenshot to my wins doc so I can reference it when I feel discouraged
And reading these messages made me so excited to make more posts, because I had fun making it and I felt fulfilled knowing it helped someone.
So it was really more about having a supportive community (and learning to validate + recognize myself) rather than the view count.
What’s 1 thing you need?
Answering this question can help you realize that the real reason you’re stuck isn’t:
The views
A specific revenue goal
Having a specific number of followers
It’s actually more about alignment and energy.
Because when you have motivation,
You can get so much done and feel fulfilled in your business…
Instead of wanting to avoid your business because it’s become a constant grind.
And we both know that 1 of these is what’s going to get you to stay consistent 🫶

P.S. if you wanna get a head start on 2026, I’m opening up a few more coaching spots! I specialize in helping ADHD content creators get sales (offer creation, program structure, funnels, etc.) 🫶 Just reply “sales” and we can hop on a call!
Usually I like to give people a free clear roadmap of what I thought they could do, then if they need help implementing the roadmap (accountability calls, reminders, advice) then they’d hire me as a coach.
