a stranger booked a call with me...

here's what happened

Today I took my first discovery call as part of my new funnel.

It was with a content creator who struggled with imposter syndrome.

She didn’t feel confident charging for her expertise.

Here are 2 stories I told her.

Hiring an Olympic runner

If you’re not confident you can get someone else the same results as you…

Here’s what my coach told me.

If I’m hiring an Olympic marathon runner to coach me,

I’m not expecting to get into the Olympics.

I’m just expecting to become a better marathon runner.

Just like how when my clients pay me,

It’s not realistic to copy my entire process and results

(Because we’re different people with different niches).

What I can be confident in

Is that I’ll help them get to where they want to be faster.

Stop gatekeeping

“I don’t want to feel like a slimey salesperson.”

If you’ve had this thought,

Here’s how you can still do sales (the authentic way).

I once talked to a creator who made $1m from her manifestation course.

She was so confident her course helped people,

She told me:

“I feel bad for people who don’t buy, because I know how much this can change their lives.”

A few months before I met her,

Someone told me:

“Jen, the stuff you’ve helped me with is amazing. Please share this with more people…stop gatekeeping your knowledge.”

If you reframe sales as helping other people

(Because if you believe in your product / offer, it will help others),

It becomes a lot easier to sell.

My advice

After my discovery call with this creator,

I sent her a full step-by-step guide.

Here it is…

Because I’m taking my own advice and not gatekeeping :)

Week 1

  • Set up email list

  • Create a Google doc with your step-by-step story / learnings (rather than just “this is what you should do”)

    • You can yap to ChatGPT and have it create an outline for you that you edit

  • Put Google doc link in email

  • (Optional) Make IG account

  • (Optional) Make YT account

  • (Optional) Connect accounts to Metricool for scheduling

Week 2

  • Remake your viral content

    • 1 of the same vid but can try different hooks

    • 1 refilmed version of the viral vid

    • 1 focused on pain point → transformation

    • 1 replying to an existing comment (video reply)

  • Direct people to comment a keyword for the link, or go to link in your bio (with the email freebie thingy)

  • (Optional) schedule the posts to YT and IG

Week 3

  • Analyze your numbers

    • How many videos posted?

    • How many views?

    • How many people gave their email?

  • Plan next steps

    • Make more content to get emails?

    • Create a paid offer (can be sent to your email list first)?

      • $10-25 template / script / planning doc for job transition

      • $1-99 booking a meeting

Til next week,

Jennifer
