#1 mistake to avoid from 769k followers
advice from Brock Johnson
Last week, I chatted with Brock Johnson (769k followers on IG) for my podcast.
I asked him:
“Let’s say someone stayed consistent for 1 year and still haven’t grown. What mistake are they making?”
Here’s what he said…
Understand yourself enough to know it’s not about you
“You’ve gotta be honest with yourself,” Brock told me.
“If you’ve posted consistently and still haven’t grown, it means you’re not improving.”
He told me you need to really detach yourself worth from the numbers.
A post that doesn’t do well?
Don’t avoid it.
Analyze why it didn’t work.
A post that went viral?
Don’t just ride the wave.
Figure out how to replicate it.
(I’ve reposted some of my viral posts a few times to analyze what happens.)
Lessons from a 5 million view video
My friend started taking content creation seriously just a few months ago.
Multiple videos of his have hit millions of views - the highest being 5 million.
His main piece of advice?
It was the same as Brock’s.
“Detach yourself from the numbers.”
Once my friend looked at his content objectively and asked others for feedback,
He was able to improve quickly - and went viral.
Look at your previous content
Remember: the numbers don’t determine your self worth -
They’re only a measure of how you can improve.
And every improvement is a step towards your goals.
Til next Friday,
